The Target Schools Scheme trains and connects current Cambridge students with schools in their local area so, through visiting to do talks and workshops, they can help teachers raise aspirations and inform pupils about life at the university.
Lots of our students arrive to study in Cambridge, fall in love with the university, and decide they want to return back home and inspire school students to consider following in their footsteps. Through this website, volunteers are able to view all schools in their local area, but are also notified of schools that have requested a visit. Simply fill in the form below to request a Target Scheme visit to your school from our volunteers or the CUSU Access Officer!
We sincerely encourage you to let us know you’re interested. For school students from backgrounds unfamiliar with university, hearing current Cambridge students explain the university and discuss their experiences sets straight many of the myths and stereotypes surrounding Oxbridge and raises aspirations. So many of us are eager to spread the word that anyone can fit in at Cambridge, have an amazing time and reap the rewards that working hard here brings. We look forward to hearing from you!
If your school has been visited by one of our volunteers already, we’d be grateful of any feedback you or your students can give.
The visit had a very positive impact and really helped the students to get a flavour of what life at Cambridge could be like. It meant a lot to see one of our own students achieve so much! You connected to the students … they could see that you are a 'normal' person and very down to earth.Gill, Teacher
The visit was really helpful and informative to all our students … it was what I wanted - not too formal but very informative.Hayley, Teacher
